Health Series Charts

Chartex, UK’s leading producer of Instruction and Education Charts has designed a series of charts, which highlight the detrimental effects that alcohol abuse, drug addiction, tobacco smoking and sexually transmitted infections can have on the body.

Alcohol causes one in four deaths among 15 to 29 year olds and is blamed for some 82,000 deaths of young people in the developed world.  (World Health Organisation – Lancet Report 27.3.2007).  Alcoholism is a disease, which affects the major body organs and systems thereby seriously affecting a person’s daily life.

Drugs destroy the lives of many young people, their families and friends.  Eventually most are driven to criminal behaviour to feed their addiction.  Tobacco smoking continues to be on the increase amongst teenagers, especially girls.  This is especially worrying because if they continue to smoke, as they get older they increase the risk of cervical cancer.

The Health Series also includes a chart on Sexual Health which provides information about the different types of sexually transmitted infections that can be passed on. The chart also gives information about the various methods of contraception that are safe and easy to get. We highlight pregnancy and infections as being a possible result of having sex.

“Healthy Eating and Regular Exercise” completes the series.  This gives advice on how to build a balanced healthy lifestyle by eating healthily and exercising regularly.  A colourful pie chart gives examples of foods that make up a healthy diet.  The exercise section shows how to gradually improve your fitness.

Each chart in the series is colourfully illustrated and the educational information provided is designed to bring attention to the real and present dangers that drugs, alcohol abuse, tobacco smoking and sexually transmitted infections can have on peoples health and well being.  Prevention is better than cure.
